Fuel for tiny minds.

Cows Day Out was originally designed for pre-schoolers in Japan. The idea was to create an engaging game that encouraged exploration, simple problem solving and teamwork. With no prompting or instructions it took the kids only minutes to figure out what to do. The game is a simple click & collect affair. If any animal is clicked on, a child's voice will name the animal, the camera will follow it and it will be added to the pop up list. Finding cows and pigs is easy. Finding that one panda or a quick moving lizard among 200 animals is not so easy. The payoff is a quick animal party then it's all back to business.

CLICKSWAP ANIMALS

Simply click on the letters to spell any animal. Every time you find a word, the game brain will ONLY replace the letters you have used. The clever bit is there will always be many choices, usually 10-12 animals to find every turn. With big, kid-friendly buttons, each letter is pronounced when selected and each discovered word is spoken in clear English. Helpful for young kids or anyone learning the language. Even adults will find the game challenging after a little while.

BACKWORDS

Inspired by Walter Speazlebud by David Donohue where the protagonist has power over words by spelling them backwards this game was first created in 2004 in Macromedia Director and then remade in 2016 with Unity. Rolling over an asteroid the user sees a word for only one second. They must then type this word BACKWARDS to destroy the incoming rock. Although quite difficult at first most people found that after 15 minutes something just 'clicks' and spelling backwards becomes as easy as spelling forwards.
